Girl Scout Cookie Review
This is my review on current Girl Scout cookies. I’m going to go over the different cookies offered and the differences between current Girl Scout cookies, and the cookies I used to sell when I was a Girl Scout, five years ago. The price for a box of cookies is currently six dollars, and seven dollars for the gluten free version. In 2019, cookies were four dollars for the standard cookies, and five for the gluten free. While most cookies stay the same around the country, there is some variety when it comes to the limited editions. There are two bakeries for the production of the cookies and it’s based on the region that you live in. The two bakeries, ABC Bakery and Little Brownie Bakers. There are nine different types of Girl Scout cookies: Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Adventurefuls, Lemonades, Trefoils, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Toast-Yay! and the gluten free Caramel Chocolate Chip. The first cookie I’ll review is the Thin Mint. This is personally my favorite cookie out of the nine and is also a favorite in my household. It’s best when coming out of the freezer. They’re crunchy, chocolatey with a light mint flavor. Caramel deLites have shortbread like base cookies with shavings of coconut mixed with caramel, all drizzled with chocolate. Peanut butter patties also have a shortbread like cookie base. This cookie has peanut butter on top and is fully dipped in milk chocolate. Trefoils are the basic shortbread cookie, semi-sweet and crunchy. The Peanut Butter Sandwich cookie has a crunchy peanut butter spread in between two peanut butter oatmeal cookies (stay away if you’re allergic to peanuts!). The Lemonades have that same shortbread base with a tangy lemon-flavored icing, these are great in the summer with some real lemonade. The gluten free Caramel Chocolate Chip cookie has caramel and chocolate chips with a hint of sea salt. These seven cookies are pretty much the same around the country, and are the same cookies sold every year. The next two cookies could be considered “limited” editions and can change every couple of years. The Adventurefuls are a brownie-like cookie with caramel crème and a hint of sea salt. The Toast-Yay! Cookies are shaped like a piece of toast. They taste like French toast and are dipped in a white basic icing. Each of these nine cookies are uniquely delicious in their own way. I think many people can find a cookie they like within this selection. The increase in price has to do with cookie program expenses and it helps to fund more opportunities for local troops. While the price continues to go up, I believe they are worth it to support entrepreneurship within young girls.
