This single album Fire Drill by Melanie Martinez is by far my
favorite album. This song is very relatable when I first
listened to it I focused on listening to the lyrics to find the
the meaning behind them. The song is a total of 4 minutes
long, and it was released on February 6, 2020. Melanie
Martinez writes this song about how there is a matter of
fake friends, childhood bullies, and seeking attention.
This song is likely based upon her ex-best friend Timothy
Heller, who accused Melanie of rape in December of 2017,
which Melanie repeatedly denied. Timothy has been
accused of controversial behaviors such as attention
seeking, speaking on behalf of other music artists, and
stretching the truth on social media which are topics
Melanie sings in the song.
I don’t blame Melanie for writing this song back in
December of 2017. I remember when everyone hated Melanie
over this rumor, Timothy made up. I never disliked her,
because I know that wasn’t true. Why would she want to do
that? Everyone tried to switch up on her, she broke off the
old friendships that she knew weren’t gonna work for her.
Overall this song is a good song for when you just cut off a
toxic friendship and you want to speak the truth about it.
