Judy Moody Play

Cy-Fair Highschool Judy Moody & Stink: The Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Treasure Hunt production is performing October 6th, 7th, and 8th at 7 pm in the Cy-Fair Auditorium.

During the beginning of October, Cy- Fair Highschool theater department is putting on a fun and light-hearted play based on a children’s book series.

“It’s energetic, adventurous, cartoony, and kind of video game-esque.” Director Mrs. Chapa said. “It’s very nostalgic and good for all audiences so you can bring your little brother and sister.”

You don’t just have to be a theater patron in order to enjoy this production, it’s easy to follow and fun for all ages.

“It’s an entertaining and short play so people who aren’t theater fanatics will still find it fun.” Director Mrs. Chapa said. “It’s a little easier than sitting through a 2-and-a-half-hour Shakespeare.”

In addition to it being the first production of the school year, it’s also the first play ever for a lot of the cast and crew.

“For most of the cast and crew this is their first play ever so there’s a big learning curve for most of them,” Mrs. Chapa said. “There were processes they had to learn to adapt to and the show is also very high energy so it’s a challenge for the actors to keep their stamina up, because just like an athlete it’s easy to get tired towards the end”

Being in theater can take a lot of work and dedication but in return, you gain a community of friends.

“Once you’re in a play you realize the theater community is really welcoming and people say hey to you in the hallways and it’s like oh my god people know me.” Maniha Kazmi said. “It’s really fun. I’ve made a lot of new friends.”

The cast and crew have been working on this play for six and a half weeks and not only are they excited to get to show everyone the work they put into it, but Cy-Fair students are excited to see it as well.

“I can’t wait to see my friends have fun on the stage!”  Cy Fair student Jasmine Durrance said.

This play is definitely a must watch production. All the students and staff involved in making this possible encourage everyone to come out and support the Cy-Fair theater program.
