Criminal Minds Real Cases

6.11- Jeffrey MacDonald

Jeffrey MacDonald is an American medical Dr. in New York City, or shall I say was a medical Dr. before he was convicted of one count of first-degree murder. In August of 1979 MacDonald was convicted of killing his pregnant wife and two daughters while serving his time as an army special forces physician. He continues to stand by his innocence till this day claiming that four intruders—three male and one female—broke into the back door of his apartment and murdered his family. In season 6 episode 11 the team interviews a man serving a 25-year sentence for killing his family but insists that a group of men broke into his house and did it. Although the episode is based on the real case, a major difference is that in the Netflix episode the team was able to prove his innocence and get him out of prison, while the real-life Jefferey Macdonald is still serving three life sentences at the Federal Correction Institution in Cumberland, Maryland.
