Sincerely, Lauryn

In today’s report of Sincerely, Lauryn we will be discussing why I find the show “SISTAS” interesting. So if you recall we last spoke about the characters in the show and what the show is about. Well, SISTAS is interesting to me because in my eyes I see real-life stories that need to be told, I see what people may be going through behind closed doors. I see the way that people are being treated, especially women in my community and men a lot more recently as well. The show helps me see how so many of us are so quick to judge one and another before we do the same about ourselves.
SISTAS portrays many real-world problems from dealing with relationships going downhill, to racism, and many other scenarios that I can’t quite think of right off the top of my head.
I like how the characters learn from their mistakes and how they try their best to correct any problems that they’ve had throughout the season.
For example, the character Andi has come a long way, she has finally found a way to find a voice when it comes to her relationships. She usually relies on others, especially her best friends and it always ends up being ugly in the end. Or if it’s not her best friend’s it’s her significant other and that leads to even bigger problems that she has to dig herself out of throughout season 1 going on through 2.
Another really big change I’ve seen is with the character zac. In the beginning, he could be really spiteful and self-entitled, but he progresses over the next few seasons. He found a way to communicate his feelings better without being spiteful towards the other party that’s involved. I specifically love the way that he has matured throughout the show. It’s shown that he is trying to make an effort, although, in the beginning, he doesn’t do it for the right reasons, he slowly learns to do it for himself instead of trying to prove himself to his then “significant other”.
The characters mentioned above are the only ones that I’ve seen some changes in who needed to change in my opinion. The other characters still have to implement some changes. Take Dannifor’s example, she’s not very vocal when it comes to her wants but when it’s dealing with anybody else’s she has all the answers for that person.
