The CFISD basketball season is upcoming and is looking to be very interesting. In our district, there will be some good matchups. One of the story arcs that will be continued is the Cy-Fair vs. Cypress Creek. For the past few years, their rivalry has been the most prominent in the District and always brings out the intensity of the players. Last year the Cougars and the Bobcats matched up 2 times during the season. In their first game, at Cypress Creek, the game came down to the wire. Following a turnover by the Bobcats, DJ Richards, a Montverde Academy commit, sped down the court and scored a game-winning layup. This win prolonged their undefeated season. Fast forward a few weeks later, Cy-Fair and Cypress matched up at Cy-Fair. The game was unfolding like it had the last time they played. Going into the 4th quarter it was another close game. The Cougars ended up winning the game by a small margin. This year promises to be full of drama and this rivalry is far from ending. Will the Cy-Fair Bobcats get vengeance on the Cypress Creek Cougars, or will the Cougars reign over the District again? I predict that Cy-Fair will win and will be the District Champs.

Another interesting matchup on the other side of the District will be between Cypress Woods and Cypress Falls. The Wildcats have a few heavy hitters. Trey Craft (Senior), and Daniel Martinez (Senior) will make a huge impact on both sides of the court. Cypress Falls has LA Tech commit, Jessiah McWright. With a crazy bounce and a long wingspan, he will certainly prove why he is one of the top players in the city. I predict that the game will be very close and every play will have an impact. I could see Cypress Falls taking the win due to their depth, but I could also see Cypress Woods winning if Trey Craft and Daniel Martinez both have big games. CFISD basketball will prove to have many good games and good players to watch out for.
