How my family and I create the best thanksgiving turkey and dressing!

Roast Turkey

  • Let turkey thaw for at least 1 hour
  • Move oven rack 1 level below center 
  • Preheat oven to 350*F
  • Remove neck and giblets
  • Season the cavity of turkey with salt and pepper
  • Make butter mixture
  • Create space for butter underneath
  • Place turkey breasts side down In a pan 
  • Spread remaining butter over turkey 
  • Use a meat thermometer to monitor the turkey’s progress
  • Let turkey cook for 3hr28 mins (time varies depending on how big your turkey is) 

Dressing ( or stuffing ) with Cranberry sauce:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • 1 (16oz) package dry cornbread mix 
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • ½ cup chopped celery
  • ¾ cup of buttermilk 
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil 

For actual dressing 

  • 8 tablespoons of butter 
  • 3 medium diced onions
  • ¾ teaspoon of salt 
  • ½ teaspoon of pepper
  • 2 to ½ cups chicken broth
  • Let cook for 1hr
